EGCA PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
By Gene Brokaw
President, EGCA
As I said at our annual Installation Dinner Meeting last month, I am again deeply honored to serve as your president for a second one-year term. I owe a special thanks to Debbie Day and her excellent EGCA staff and to the entire EGCA board for the help and support they have given me during 2007.
Special thanks must go to our Contractor of the Year, fellow board member Mike Shaw, of Perry & Shaw, and to another fellow board member, Devin Righter, of Trench Shoring Company, our EGCA Affiliate Member of the Year.
All of us are aware of the tenacity and leadership Mike displayed last year in our exhaustive battle with the ill-conceived and ill-timed CARB regulations, while Devin gave of himself and his company in supporting EGCA in many of its programs, helping the organization by volunteering to be an active part in its committees, hosting an EGCA membership meeting, and being there to be helpful when and as needed.
A third awardee—and a person who has been of great help to us all—is the man who received the EGCA President’s Award, Dan Fauchier, who fought the good fight for us all the way.
Thanks also must go to the San Diego County Water Authority, EGCA’s recipient of its Public Agency Partnership Award, for listening and responding to our industry’s issues by making changes where possible, and offering classes to help us to work with areas it cannot change.
It has been a challenging year, but we know from past experience that EGCA and its members have what it takes to meet those challenges and deal with them.
Thank you for your support—and now, let’s all get to work.
